Pompeii, Where Wine and History Meet: The Culture of Wine Lives On
7–8 September 2025 | Archaeological Park of Pompeii
The third edition of “Pompeii – Of Antiquity, of Life, of Wine and of Food”, curated by Dante Stefano del Vecchio, CEO of Mysteryapple Communication, returns to the Archaeological Park of Pompeii on 7–8 September 2025, turning the spotlight on old vines and the deep cultural legacy they carry.
This year’s edition explores wine’s evolving identity through the lens of antiquity, drawing connections between past and present with the participation of wine regions and cultures from Georgia, Armenia, Moldova, and across Italy—from Friuli Venezia Giulia and Tuscany to Campania
Michèle Shah, Italy’s Regional Ambassador for The Old Vine Conference, joins del Vecchio in a shared mission to trace the vine’s deep, ancient roots. She will also lead a masterclass on Italy’s old vines, featuring wines from Italian members of The Old Vine Conference.
The programme brings together archaeologists, scholars, and winemakers. Highlights include talks by Armando Castagno and Llorenç Alapont, a special focus on the “global Pompeii” and its viticultural legacy, and masterclasses on Moldovan and Armenian wines, the Qvevri revolution, and the territories of Sannio, Irpinia, and Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Over 40 producers and numerous regional consortia will participate, with a special space dedicated to amphora-aged wines. A selected group of international press and buyers will be hosted for winery visits, tastings, and B2B meetings, creating a unique dialogue between heritage and the global wine market.
Please let me know if you would like a shorter one.
There should be an official press release which will be released this evening, but I think the above covers most in a short effective way.
Michèle Shah.
